ENABLE Scotland has some exciting news for Dumfries and Galloway – they have been awarded funding from Inspiring Scotland to start new community groups in the town of Moffat! Details of the first meeting for the Family connect Group are as follows:
Our new ENABLE Scotland Family Connect Group.
Family Connect is a support service for family carers of people with learning disabilities – both children and adults. Our groups connect you to the wider ENABLE Family, and can support you through the ups and downs of life as a carer. We also offer peer support by giving family carers a space to bring their own issues forward, to meet other people in similar situations. Our groups are a safe space for family carers to share their experiences and their thoughts with peers.
Please join us and bring anyone you’d like to join you for moral support!
Meet other family carers, learn from each other and understand how ENABLE Scotland can help you.
The first meeting will be hosted by Gary Airnes – ENABLE Scotland’s Branch and Membership Coordinator – and Lauren Redmond – National SDS Project worker. Lauren will join us to tell you about how she can support families to assert their rights to Self Directed Support, and advocate for you and your loved ones.
It’s an informal meeting and Refreshments will be provided.
We are also bringing a new ACE Group to Moffat – a group for adults with a learning disability, and more information with you about this in the near future.
For more information about each group, call or email Gary Airnes – 07552 277 380 / gary.airnes@enable.org.uk or click the links below:
